Solar Gard® Clearshield® WPF
A new generation of flexible protection and solar control film for glass and other demanding surfaces.
Clearshield® WPF is a high-performance, weather-resistant TPU film installed on the EXTERIOR of glass or plastic windows. The film combines optical clarity, solar control and durable surface protection. Its flexible construction conforms to curved and complex shapes without traditional heat forming.

WPF is installed on the exterior of the glass or plastic windows of cars, buses, motorhomes or caravans.
No heat forming
The film is flexible and easy to stretch. Curved and challenging windows can be covered without traditional heat forming using a heat gun.
More than 99% UV protection
All versions block more than 99% of UV radiation in the 300–380 nm range.
Everyday surface protection
Protects scratch-sensitive materials and features a topcoat with self-healing properties.
EXTERIOR INSTALLATION
WPF is installed on the EXTERIOR of the glass or plastic window
Unlike traditional automotive window film, Clearshield® WPF is installed on the exterior of the window. The flexible TPU construction conforms to curved and complex shapes without the film first having to be shrunk or heat-formed. This also makes challenging, highly curved rear windows considerably easier to tint.

Installed externally on glass, polycarbonate, PMMA and other compatible transparent substrates.
2. No traditional forming
The film does not need to be shrunk or shaped with a heat gun to conform to a curved window.
3. Glass and plastic windows
Suitable for many windows on passenger cars, buses, motorhomes and caravans, including plastic windows made from materials such as polycarbonate and PMMA.
TECHNOLOGY BEHIND WPF
Solar performance is built into the TPU layer
In the tinted WPF versions, the solar control components are integrated directly into the TPU layer, not the adhesive. This provides stable, consistent performance over time.
The specially developed, optically clear adhesive system is designed for strong adhesion to several substrates, with particularly good compatibility with polycarbonate and PMMA.

Choose the right balance of privacy, clarity and solar protection
The values below are reported in Solar Gard’s technical product sheet and calculated in accordance with EN 410. Normal variations may occur.
WPF 15
Visible light transmission: 15 %
Total solar energy rejection: 63 %
The darkest option for maximum privacy. Excellent as an exterior solar control film on rear windows, side windows, buses, motorhomes and caravans.
WPF 40
Visible light transmission: 44 %
Total solar energy rejection: 54 %
A versatile option with a noticeable tint, effective solar protection and good visibility. Suitable for rear windows, side windows, buses and recreational vehicles.
WPF 70
Visible light transmission: 69 %
Total solar energy rejection: 46 %
A light, subtle tint with high clarity. An attractive option for front door windows and windscreens where legal requirements and the window’s overall visible light transmission permit it.
WPF Clear
Visible light transmission: 89 %
UV protection: more than 99%
Optically clear and discreet surface protection without an obvious tint. Particularly suitable for windscreens and other windows where maximum clarity is important.
APPLICATIONS
Exterior solar protection for cars, buses and recreational vehicles
WPF 15, WPF 40 and WPF 70 are designed to combine solar protection, privacy and surface protection. Because the film is installed on the exterior, it can be used on many windows where traditional interior window film is difficult to shape or install.
Passenger car rear and side windows
WPF 15, 40 and 70 provide different tint levels. Highly curved and otherwise challenging rear windows are considerably easier to tint because the film does not need to be heat-formed.
Buses and public transport
An excellent option for large glass areas where solar comfort, privacy and durable protection against scratches and graffiti need to be combined.
Motorhomes, caravans and plastic windows
Provides solar protection and privacy on both glass and plastic windows. The specially developed adhesive offers good compatibility with polycarbonate, PMMA and similar materials.
Front door windows and windscreen
WPF 70 provides a light, subtle tint that can look attractive on front door windows and windscreens of display vehicles, vehicles not used on public roads, or where local regulations permit it. WPF Clear is particularly suitable when you want to protect the windscreen while retaining maximum clarity.
Always check the regulations: In Sweden, road vehicles must have at least 75% total visible light transmission through the windscreen and at least 70% through other windows in the driver’s field of vision. The combined result of the window and film is what counts.
Opening windows and warranty limitations
On an opening window, the film should extend slightly beneath the window seals. This protects the film edges and provides the best possible performance when the window moves.
Important warranty information: The product warranty does not cover edge lifting, wear or damage caused by frequently raising and lowering the window, dirty glass, tight seals or other mechanical stress. Dirt between the window and seal significantly increases wear.
Less visible heater and antenna wires: On rear and side windows, the darker WPF levels reduce the contrast against heater and antenna wires. The wires are therefore less prominent when viewed from the outside.
Rear window wipers: Solar Gard does not recommend WPF on vehicle windows fitted with rear window wipers.

AFTER INSTALLATION
Care instructions that protect the surface
A slight haze may occasionally be visible immediately after wet installation. This is normally caused by residual moisture and disappears on its own within a few days, depending on the weather.
Rinse the surface with clean water before cleaning. Use a mild soap solution and a soft microfibre cloth or sponge. Avoid ammonia, strong chemicals, abrasive cleaning products, brushes and scrapers.
WARRANTY
Up to 5-year product warranty
Solar Gard provides a 5-year limited warranty for roof windows and side windows.
For windscreens and rear windows, the stated warranty is 1 year or a maximum of 12 000 km. Terms and exclusions apply.
